Summer is all about relaxing, rejuvenating, and reading! Research has shown that students who read during the summer retain more of what they have learned. It is the easiest, most enjoyable way to prevent the “summer slide,” and there are dozens of fantastic new books on the summer reading list to get kids excited.
TCS students are required to read, or hear read aloud, a minimum of five books during the summer. If your child is a pre-reader, please be sure to read to him or her every day for at least twenty minutes. If you need ideas for motivating your young reader, take a look at the Reading is Fundamental website.
Students in grades 3 – 7 are required to read a particular book, plus four others of their choice. Click here for the required reading list for rising third – seventh grades.
