By Nicole Victor, Director of Enrollment Management
I am always giddy the night before the first day of school. It has been that way ever since I was a child. This year was no different, except my excitement stemmed from something deeper. The first day of the 2020-21 school year represented the first time since March 13 that I would see many members of the TCS community. I simply could not wait to see my TCS colleagues and families- new and returning!
TCS is more than the school where I work and where my own children, Tristan and Shane, now in fifth and third grade, go to school. It is a community that is an extension of my family and our values.
Every year, I share my own “TCS Why” with current and prospective families only to find that our “TCS Why” is often the same: TCS is a diverse, inclusive community that challenges and nurtures learners. For 50 years now, The Children’s School’s classrooms have been positive environments where students fearlessly explore and share their ideas and feel comfortable showing up as their authentic self.
So, on the first days of school, it was wonderful to be back and see everyone, whether it was on campus or remotely. I reveled in the air hugs and elbow bumps from the on-campus students and plentiful smiles from the remote learners as we greeted each other with joy and welcomed our newest Wolf Pack members to The Children’s School.
Looking Ahead to this Year
In Atlanta, the admission season formally kicked off on Oct. 1, and this year is sure to be one like no other! We have created a variety of virtual experiences to give prospective families the opportunity to get to know our unique and dynamic community of learners and doers. From virtual coffees and open houses to virtual and on-campus tours on select Saturdays, we cannot wait to introduce prospective families to our community.
You – our current parents – are our best cheerleaders, ambassadors, and representatives of the TCS Way. You are the most common way that new families find out about TCS each year and the most compelling reason new families want to join our community. Our current parents are our best ambassadors because you know families like yours – families who are looking for challenging academics in a nurturing environment – and you bring our school to life every time you share your “TCS Why”. When you recommend our school to other families, you help make our community stronger. There is so much to love about TCS.
Do you know a prospective family that would be a great match for our unique community? Share this postcard with our virtual open house dates, encourage families to visit our website to sign up for one of our admission events or check out our virtual tour page to gain a deeper understanding of TCS’s commitment to amplifying childhood while preparing our students to succeed in high school and beyond.
