Meet Alice Johnson, a new teacher in our elementary school where she’s teaching fifth grade. She was born in Suffolk, England, and moved to Atlanta in February with her husband and daughter, Penny. She’s worked in education for 9 years and loves supporting children as they grow and develop into independent, powerful learners. Alice also loves learning new things and recently completed her master’s in education. She thoroughly enjoys passing on her love of learning to students.
What are you most excited about this year?
When I first visited The Children’s School, it was clear to see the warmth and passion within the students and staff. It was evident that play is at the center of learning and children are encouraged and celebrated as their individual selves. I am so excited to be part of a school that not only recognises the importance of play, but also promotes it and to be part of the journey!
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Being from Europe, I love the fascinating history, culture and mouth-watering food from cities like Madrid, Paris and Barcelona! I enjoy skiing, so a favourite spot of mine is the French Alps!
Which fictional character would you most like to meet?
I have always loved reading, and as a teenager, I was often found with my head in a book! The “Hunger Games” was a firm favorite between me and my sister, often racing to see who could read them the quickest! Katniss Everdeen is determined, fearless, yet selfless! The epitome of female strength, Katniss teaches a lesson about resilience in the face of adversity whilst remaining compassionate and empathetic to others. Not only is she a strong, independent woman, but she is a team player who supports and encourages her peers.
