TCS Atlanta fifth graders hosted their annual Civil War Expo last week to showcase what they’ve learned during their Civil War project-based learning (PBL) unit.
Parents, faculty, staff and students sampled food from the era; watched character sketches; heard personal characterizations by students; watched a drumming skit; and learned about death and disease during the Civil War.
One of the highlights from the Expo was a performance from a group of fifth graders that incorporated music and movement to reveal important Civil War ideas and themes, many of which touched on less emphasized history from the era.
The students worked incredibly hard on their parts, and did an amazing job. Way to go, fifth grade!
