Thanks and Photos from Grandparents and Special Friends Day

What a wonderful day we had last Tuesday celebrating Grandparents and Special Friends Day! Over 400 members of our community — parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, faculty, staff and, of course, students — came together for the festivities. It was a privilege to speak to our guests about the impact of this transformational year at TCS, as many of you do not get the chance to visit our campus regularly. I was thrilled we all got to hear from this year’s Grandparent Ambassador, Kathy Ashe (Izzy, 1st grade and Charlie, Pre-K). Our music teacher, Michele, led the students in two excellent musical performances, which was truly a highlight of the day! I also hope you had the opportunity to visit your student’s classroom and get a glimpse of a day in the life of our students. This slideshow captures many of these special moments. Enjoy!

Please come back and visit us often. There are many ways to be an involved family member or special friend at TCS, including:

  • Accompanying friends or family members (or helping out!) at our Halloween Carnival in late October.
  • Attending Grandparents and Special Friends Day in November. Save the date for next year’s event on November 22, 2016!
  • Reserving tickets to the party of the year- our TCS auction! This year it will be held on March 19, 2016.
  • Making a philanthropic gift to support classroom innovations and technology, professional development and financial aid at TCS. Gifts to TCS are critical to the advancement of our school, as tuition does not cover the full cost of educating each student, and philanthropy bridges that gap.
  • Supporting our financial aid program by redirecting state tax dollars through the Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program (for those living in Georgia). We are committed to educating our students, regardless of their financial situations, and this program helps us immensely in meeting that goal.
  • Arranging a time to have lunch with your student or read to their class.
  • Chaperoning a field trip or class outing.
  • Staying updated with all things TCS by subscribing to our weekly newsletter, Happenings, or following us on Facebook, Instagram and our website.

These are just a few examples of ways to stay connected to our special school throughout the year! Whether it’s through your gifts of time, service or philanthropy, please know that we treasure your involvement with our school.

For more information on volunteering or giving at TCS, please feel free to contact our director of institutional advancement, Emily Takieddine at emilyt@thechildrensschool.com.

We hope to see you on campus soon!
