This month’s Building Character and Community (BBC) trait of compassion was a perfect segway to host TCS’s service learning event this past weekend! Several organizations, including Open Door Community, Gateway Center, Our House, Inc., and Action Ministries gathered at TCS to bring awareness and answer questions about the homeless community in Atlanta.
After the organizations spent some time with the students as a whole group discussing the facets of homelessness, nearly one hundred TCS parents, students, and teachers participated in preparing 1,000 sandwiches in a record time of twenty minutes! Pre-K teacher Theresa is working hard with TCS alums today to serve the prepared sandwiches and hot meals at Action Ministries in Atlanta.
This was truly a community collaboration and offered quite the reciprocal learning experience for all. We thank everyone who was able to participate this past weekend and all TCS alumni serving their community today!
